Via West

Via West provides residential respite care with weekend and week-long special needs camping programs throughout the year. We offer innovative programs and activities that include both learning and outdoor experiences, plus independent living skills and skill building activities that are specifically designed to improve self-sufficiency.

Traditional Overnight Program

Traditional overnight programs provide independent living skills and executive functioning, all while having so much fun. Activities are themed to each weekend and include cooking, hiking, swimming, music, sports, dramatic arts, creative arts, and more. Sessions are 3 days, 5 days, or 7 days in length. The 2020 brochure will be released in January.

The Program

  • Kids, teens, and young adults sessions for ages 5-22 and young adult and adult sessions for ages 16+
  • Staffing ratios provided for 1:1, 2:1, and 3:1
  • Check-in is from 10:00am-12:00pm on the first day and check-out is from 1:00-3:00pm on the last day
  • Day program from 9:00am-6:00pm is available every day of the session (hours are abbreviated on the first and last day)

Pricing & Enrollment

  • Overnight Private Pay: $705-$2310 depending on ratio and length of session
  • Day Camp Private Pay: $218/day for 3:1 or $260/day for 2:1 or $308/day for 1:1
  • If you would like to utilize Regional Center funding for your Via West experience, please check with your Regional Center planning team. If the respite is indeed funded by the Regional Center, you will only be charged for the enhanced camp experience - the Supplemental Daily rate of $90/day.

Swimming Lessons

Our Adaptive Swim Lessons for children, teens, young adults, and adults run during select summer Via West sessions. Each clinic is comprised of 4 sessions that are each 45 minutes in length. We will be offering 2 different types of clinics. Beginner lessons will include getting acquainted with water, working on submerging your head under water, beginning front and back floats with assistance, and beginning kicking with assistance. Intermediate lessons are for those already comfortable in the water that can do a front float unassisted. These lessons include working on different swim strokes and learning to tread water in the deep end.

Adventures in Life Readiness

Adventures in Life Readiness programs are for 3:1 adults, ages 16+ with developmental and/or physical disabilities who are ready to master relevant knowledge, skills, and attitudes for working at Via West in preparation for community work settings. Participants will assist with camp programming. They will also be coached on vocational scenarios, practice executive functioning skills, social norms, and household management skills. The 2020 brochure will be released in January.

  • Adult sessions for ages 16+
  • Staffing ratios provided for 3:1
  • Check-in is from 10:00am-12:00pm on the first day and check-out is from 1:00-3:00pm on the last day

Travel Camp

Travel camps give participants the chance to spend time exploring their own local community and beyond by experiencing overnight trips in a safe, nurturing environment.The 2020 brochure will be released in January.

The Program

  • Young adults and adults ages 16+
  • Staffing ratios provided for 3:1
  • Check-in is from 10:00-11:00am on the first day and check-out is from 5:00-5:00pm on the last day

Pricing & Enrollment

  • $1116 for 3:1 or $1227 for 2:1 (limited spacing for 2:1 evaluated on a case-by-case basis)
  • If you would like to utilize Regional Center funding for your Via West experience, please check with your Regional Center planning team. If the respite is indeed funded by the Regional Center, you will only be charged for the enhanced camp experience - the Supplemental Daily rate of $645.
