Via West

Via West provides residential respite care with weekend and week-long special needs camping programs throughout the year. We offer innovative programs and activities that include both learning and outdoor experiences, plus independent living skills and skill building activities that are specifically designed to improve self-sufficiency.

Traditional Overnight Program

Traditional overnight programs provide independent living skills and executive functioning, all while having so much fun. Activities are themed to each weekend and include cooking, hiking, music, sports, dramatic arts, creative arts, and more. The Program

  • Kids, teens, and young adults sessions for ages 5-22, young adults and adults sessions for ages 16+
  • Staffing ratios provided for 1:1, 2:1, and 3:1
  • Check-in is from 5:00pm-6:00pm on Friday and check-out is from 1:00-3:00pm on Sunday
  • Day program is available Saturday from 9:00am-8:00pm and Sunday from 9:00am-3:00pm

Pricing & Enrollment

  • Overnight Private Pay: $610 for 3:1 or $670 for 2:1 or $730 for 1:1
  • Saturday Day Option Private Pay: $210 for 3:1 or $250 for 2:1 or $290 for 1:1
  • Sunday Day Option Private Pay: $126 for 3:1 or $166 for 2:1 or $206 for 1:1
  • If you would like to utilize Regional Center funding for your Via West experience, please check with your Regional Center planning team. If the respite is indeed funded by the Regional Center, you will only be charged for the enhanced camp experience - the Supplemental Daily Rate of $85.

Travel Camp

Travel camps give participants the chance to spend time exploring their own local community and beyond by experiencing weekend overnight travel. For detailed descriptions and themes for each session, click here for the current registration brochure.

The Program

  • Young adults and adults sessions for ages 16+
  • Staffing ratios provided for 3:1 with limited availability for 2:1 (evaluated on a case-by-case basis)
  • Check-in is from 9:00-10:00am on the first day and check-out is from 5:00-6:00pm on the last day

Pricing & Enrollment

  • San Francisco Private Pay: $950 for 3:1 or $1050 for 2:1 (limited spacing for 2:1 evaluated on a case-by-case basis)
  • Disneyland Private Pay: $1300 for 3:1 or $1495 for 2:1 (limited spacing for 2:1 evaluated on a case-by-case basis)
  • If you would like to utilize Regional Center funding for your Via West experience, please check with your Regional Center planning team. If the respite is indeed funded by the Regional Center, you will only be charged for the enhanced camp experience - the Supplemental Daily Rate of $200.

Sports Clinics

Our golf clinics started with a grant from the National Alliance for Accessible Golf, and in collaboration with The First Tee of Silicon Valley, we will be continuing them this year. We are offering a 6-week sports clinic specializing in golf. Participation and teamwork will be emphasized. The point of this offering is to build everyone;s ability at a pace they are comfortable with and to the level that they are capable of. The most important factor will continue to be safety and learning, and of course, having fun! These programs will be offered to all ages and ratios. Instructions and team building exercises will be integrated; however, the clinic itself will be separated by age groups. Please click here for the current dates.

Special Needs Science Camp

Science overnight/day camps are specifically designed for district special day classes and non-public schools. Curriculum encompasses climate, ecosystem-vegetation/animals, gardens, and green space.

The Program

  • Students ages 5-22
  • Staffing ratios provided for 1:1, 2:1, and 3:1
  • 45-60 minute lessons with 7 rotations including meals and camp circle games
