Featured Foundation: The Lisa Libraries

The Lisa Libraries, a national non-profit organization started by author Ann Martin to honor and memorialize children’s book editor Lisa Novak, has donated generously to all three of Via Services’ programs. Via West Campus received 200 brand-new books that fill the book nook shelves in the Sobrato Family Foundation Performing Arts Building. Participants young and old enjoy curling up in beanbag chairs to decompress and enjoy a good book when life is a little overwhelming. And having the books available for theme-based group reading really helps our visual learners understand the activities during any given camp session.

The First Step Program received 200 English and Spanish books written at just the right level for the youngsters they serve. Perfect for breaking the ice when new children come for evaluation or therapy, the books also create great bonding moments for parents and children. And the 200 books for Altitude at Via were the catalyst for a highly-successful collaborative group project during November camp. Working together, participants reviewed various books and shared their impressions with peers.
