What is Giving Tuesday?
#GivingTuesday is a global day of giving that harnesses the collective power of individuals, communities, and organizations to encourage philanthropy and to celebrate generosity worldwide. Following Thanksgiving and the widely recognized shopping events Black Friday and Cyber Monday, this year’s Giving Tuesday will take place on November 27th and will kick off the giving season by inspiring people to collaborate and give back.
Our Goal: $67,000
Our 13 acre, Via West Campus provides special needs camping services to thousands of children and adults each year through our Via West and Altitude programs. For nearly 70 years, parents have entrusted us with the care of their young and adult children, and safety has always been our number one priority. Last year, your donations went toward updating the lighting and installing a full PA system with speakers that reach the entire campus, and we would like to continue to enhance our safety features with the funds raised on Giving Tuesday. We believe that in our current climate, it is so important to keep up with growing technology and to continuously evaluate and update our security and safety measures.
We are asking for your help to raise $67,000 to install 30 new cameras, as well as an automatic entry gate with an intercom that will ring to the office, kitchen, and the director’s home. This will allow us to keep our campus secure, our campers protected, and it will enable us to shelter in place during emergencies.
